Safe Space – graduation project

workshop concept

More than one-fifth of all children and young people in Germany are affected by poverty. Due to the often unstable and tumultuous situations these children grow up in, they often lack a safe and secure home where they can bring friends, express their creativity, and be themselves.

The Safe Space project is geared towards these children and their families, and has two parts.

The first part consisted of planning, conceptualization, and hosting the first workshops for disadvantaged children. Through these workshops, which were carried out with the nonprofit organization ARTHELPS, children explore and develop their creativity and self-confidence. The children learn different creative techniques. The results form the basis for various home items such as posters, bed linen, cushions, lamp shades etc. These unique and self-designed items contribute to a sense of wellbeing in their own homes.

The second part of this projected was the creation of a book (pictured below), which includes instructions on how to organize and run the workshops, allowing them to be repeated by other organizations.
